CBD is well known for helping people feel calmer, more balanced and less anxious. So, you might be asking, what’s the difference between Hawaiian Choice’s Relax CBD oil tincture and other CBD oils? All Hawaiian Choice CBD oil tinctures (apart from our Pet CBD) contain the same amount of broad spectrum Hawaiian CBD: 750mg per 30ml bottle. They are also infused with the same organic and wild gathered Hawaiian fruits. What sets them apart from each other is the addition of unique terpene blends. It’s these terpenes that work their magic, amplifying the effects of CBD to help you rest, recover and sleep.

So, what are terpenes? Terpenes are natural compounds that give hemp, cannabis and other plants their smell, taste and treatment properties. Interestingly, you can find the same terpenes in different plants and yet they always have the same properties. The CBD we use is broad spectrum which means that although it has had THC removed to below lab detectable levels, it still retains its natural terpenes, rare cannabinoids (such as CBN and CBG) and phytochemicals for the entourage effect. In addition to the naturally occurring terpenes, we infuse each bottle with higher levels of three more organic, natural terpenes for specific added effects.

Terpenes for relaxation

For our Relax CBD oil, we add linalool, myrcene and terpinolene.

You have probably heard that lavender is good for relaxation and sleep. This is largely because it also contains the terpene linalool. Linalool has a calming effect and is used for the treatment of anxiety and depression. It has a floral scent, similar to the scent of lavender itself.

Myrcene increases the relaxing, sedative effects of our Relax CBD oil as it can be used for insomnia, pain and inflammation. It has an earthy scent with hints of cardamon and cloves.

Terpinolene is also useful for relaxing, calming and promotes sleep. It has a smoky or woody aroma and is also believed to have antioxidant and antibacterial effects.

The amazing thing with broad and full spectrum oils is that the combination of CBD with these terpenes and other natural compounds is that they add up to more than the sum of their parts. It’s as if they exponentially multiply and in this case create a far greater sense of relaxation.

How do CBD and terpenes taste?

While we mentioned that the scents and tastes of these terpenes – linalool, myrcene and terpinolene – are floral, woody and earthy, and CBD naturally has a herbaceous flavor, the overall taste of our CBD oil is much fruitier and sweeter thanks to addition of real fruit infusions.

We use organic and wild gathered Hawaiian pineapple, passionfruit, noni, and Big Island honey in all our tinctures as well as organic hibiscus and organic MCT coconut oil. Nothing artificial!

How to take Relax CBD oil

We recommend taking our Relax CBD oil in the evening or at a time when you want to chill out and rest. If using it for sleep, we recommend taking it a half hour before bed. Shake the bottle vigorously to mix the CBD oil and terpenes with the fruit infusion, spray it under your tongue one to three times and hold it there for at least thirty seconds before swallowing. Taking CBD sublingually allows it to pass into your bloodstream faster than if you need to digest it through your stomach. (Each average spray contains about 10mg CBD and there are 75 sprays per bottle.)

If you need even more help getting a good night’s sleep, we recommend amplifying your Hawaiian Choice Relax CBD oil with our sister brand Rare Cannabinoid Company’s CBN Oil. CBN (Cannabinol) is a rare cannabinoid that can be found in small amounts in full and broad spectrum CBD and THC oils. Rare Cannabinoid Company’s CBN single extract oil contains 500mg CBN suspended in organic MCT coconut oil. If taking this combination for sleep, we would recommend taking one or two sprays of Hawaiian Choice Relax CBD oil and one spray of CBN oil. Rare Cannabinoid Company also offers a one-to-one CBN plus CBD oil. This tincture contains 250mg CBN and 250 mg full spectrum Hawaiian CBD. Although both brands use CBD extracted from Hawaiian hemp, Rare Cannabinoid Company uses full spectrum CBD, which means that it contains less than 0.3% THC. Meanwhile, all Hawaiian Choice products use broad spectrum CBD, which means that THC has been extracted to below lab detectable levels on our third party lab test results.

Active, Focus & Relief CBD oils

In addition to using cannabinoids for sleep, Hawaiian Choice also has three other CBD oil tinctures that are infused with specific terpenes. Active CBD oil for exercise and appetite control. Focus CBD oil to help you stay sharp and alert. Relief CBD oil to help you deal with pain and inflammation.

Active contains terpenes: Humulene, Limonene and Delta 3 Carene. Focus contains terpenes: Alpha Pinene, Beta Pinene and Limonene. Relief contains terpenes: Eucalyptol, Humulene and Gamma Terpinene.

Our Active and Focus CBD oil blends taste especially good as the terpene limonene has a fresh, citrus flavor. Active’s Delta 3 Carene is also mildy sweet with with a citrus taste.

Rare cannabinoids THCV, CBG and CBC

Meanwhile, Rare Cannabinoid Company also offers rare cannabinoids THCV, which, like Active, is good for exercise and appetite control, CBG and CBC, which like Relief are believed to assist with pain and inflammation. CBG also shows great promise as a neuroprotectant and may be effective for neurodegenerative diseases such as dementia, Parkinson’s and MS.
